A Romanian car collector with a huge collection recently admitted he forgot he owned a Ferrari F40. You may have heard of Ion Tiriac or the Tiriac Collection, a museum that houses some of his attractions. Well, the man apparently has trouble remembering them all.
Rick Ross doesn’t even know how many cars he owns.
Some car collectors are quite compulsive, and if they have enormous fortunes, they can afford to collect quite an array of vehicles. When that happens, their collection is usually spread across multiple locations. Combined with a busy schedule and a lot of things on their minds, it’s easy to see how you could forget to own a few vehicles in the lineup.
But we can’t imagine forgetting a Ferrari F40. The supercar is so iconic that it would be one of the centerpieces of even some of the most impressive car collections in the world. That’s what really surprises us about this story.
The shocking revelation came out during an interview on Tiriac Collection’s official YouTube channel. He said he had thought about buying a Ferrari F40 previously owned by Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger for about a decade.
After purchasing that iconic supercar, he said he stored it in Munich, Germany. And then he pretty much forgot about it all.
When another car collector, who Tiriac did not name, tried to buy the F40 from him, he declined the offer. Tiriac then bought a second Ferrari F40.
While some may think this is a big flex for Tiriac, we’re not too impressed. Like other gearheads, we have a certain reverence for the F40, because not only is it a great supercar for its time, and even by today’s standards, but it was also the last project personally overseen by Enzo himself.
But we guess when you own some rare vehicles, a single F40 fades from your memory?
